Industry Standards Based Push Email
The handset provides a native industry standard email application (IMAP/SMTP), offering a rich and fully integrated mobile email experience. The platform enables true Push Email using the OMA EMN standard and can interface with Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo, Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, as well as social networks and newsfeeds.
Dedicated Email keys provide one-touch access to reading and composing Emails, and enable users to view complex attachments without downloading megabytes of data, courtesy of Synchronica Mobile Gateway’s built-in transcoding engine.
Complete Instant Messaging
MessagePhone's IM solution is based on the IMPS industry standard, and includes a pre-installed J2ME IMPS Client, enabling users to chat on popular IM communities such as AIM, MSN, ICQ and Google Talk. Mobile Gateway also supports an XMPP operator-hosted IM community to help differentiate and enhance user "stickiness".
Synchronized Contacts and Calendar
MessagePhone supports SyncML (OMA DS) for synchronization of built-in contacts and calendar with backend services (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Google, and Windows Live Hotmail) and OMA DS Push for auto synchronization of new contacts and calendar events to be automatically synchronized between the handset and server (bi-directional push).
Network Traffic Efficient
Supports partial email downloading of 2 Kb instead of the whole email, reducing network traffic and download time substantially and improving the user experience. Mobile Gateway’s inbuilt transcoding engine optimises email attachments and reduced their size in order to conserve network operator bandwidth.
Mobile Gateway Signup Wizard
Built-in WAP Signup Wizard makes on-device registration quick and easy, with simple steps to get end users connected in minutes. Users simply type in their email address and password – that’s it – MessagePhone does the rest!
Smartphone-like Design & Advanced Features
To provide the best possible user experience, the Java-enabled handsets feature a full QWERTY keyboard, large color LCD Screen, full HTML Internet Browser (enabling rapid access to the web), Instant Messaging Client, MP3, MPEG4, Camera, and robust Personal Information Manager that synchronizes Calendar and Contact entries.
Mobile Gateway Integrates Easily with the Operator Network
Mobile Gateway servers are the center of the MessagePhone messaging system and are hosted by Synchronica or reside within the operator network infrastructure.The services interface directly with the SMS/MMS Center with optional billing integration. Mobile Gateway combines and channels information from Email, IM, Social Networking, or RSS feeds from:
- Enterprise Mail Servers
- POP3/IMAP ISP Mail Servers
- Social Networking Sites
- IM Communities
- RSS Web Feeds
The messaging-related information is then transmitted through the operator network directly to the MessagePhone.
As Mobile Gateway is open to any device from any manufacturer, operators can extend their MessagePhone service across the entire subscriber base.
