Synchronica's CEO Selected as a Finalist for the IoD South-East Young Director of the Year Award
A Strong Endorsement of Synchronica's Drive to Provide Email Accessibility to All Mobile Phone Users Around the World
Royal Tunbridge Wells, September 25, 2008. - The Institute of Directors (IoD) today announced that Synchronica's Chief Executive Officer, Carsten Brinkschulte, has been selected as a finalist for their South-East Young Director of the Year Award.
Incorporated by royal charter in 1903, the IoD aims to support, represent, and set standards for a worldwide association of members, providing a professional network that covers the entire spectrum of the business community. The Young Director of the Year Award recognizes and celebrates the best and most dynamic directors across Britain and is judged based on the directors' vision of the company, achievements over the last two years, approach to the company culture, and how they have shaped their industry.
A serial entrepreneur with enviable experience in the mobile sector, Carsten founded and operated a number of companies in this sector including Century Software and Weblicon Technologies in Germany, before setting his sights on the gains of an industry-standard approach to mobile email, by starting up Synchronica plc.
Under Carsten's leadership, Synchronica has successfully developed a number of multi-award-winning products that are now used by mobile network operators across the world to provide mobile email and synchronization services to their customers.
Understanding in particular the emerging market reality where billions of mobile phone consumers lack basic access to email connectivity, Carsten is now focusing Synchronica on opportunities in developing nations where limited access to infrastructure has resulted in the most basic of mobile phones becoming a viable route to bridging the digital divide.
In support of Synchronica's aspirations to become the global leader for mass market mobile email in emerging markets, Carsten has successfully completed two acquisitions which add substantial value to Synchronica's product portfolio. In November 2007, Carsten led the acquisition of the assets of the U.S.-based email specialist GoodServer whose technology was already a key part of Synchronica's flagship product Mobile Gateway.
However, it was the acquisition of competing mobile email solutions provider AxisMobile in August 2008 and the raising of GBP 5.1 million from the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in London which has distinguished Carsten as a visionary leader.
By raising these funds, Synchronica is now well equipped to address the global opportunities identified by Carsten, and AxisMobile's complimentary technology further expands the addressable market into the low-end consumer sector.
Finally, Synchronica's improved competitive positioning and reduced competition in the market will increase the company's sales conversion rates.
Commenting on the IoD's announcement, Carsten said: "I was initially flattered to have been nominated for the region's Young Director of the Year, but now I am honored to be selected as a finalist of this prestigious award and view this as an affirmation of Synchronica's vision to bring push email and synchronization services to every phone on the planet."
