Calendaring Extensions to WebDAV (CalDAV)
Calendaring Extensions to WebDAV (CalDAV) is an open standard defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) which aims to enable a client to access scheduling information stored on a remote server.
Most importantly, CalDAV is a platform-neutral standard that makes use of the iCalendar data format, thereby allowing multiple server and client applications to access and share each other's information. Users can synchronize their calendars with a CalDAV server and in turn share their information amongst multiple devices or other users.
As a means of the server being able to interpret and process the data, the CalDAV specification requires that the server supports the WebDAV access control protocol, and that calendar resources make use of the iCalendar format.
Synchronica Mobile Gateway and Mobile Backup are fully compliant with the CalDAV standard.
Additionally, in demonstration of its support of CalDAV as an open scheduling standard, Synchronica is an active member of CalConnect, the Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium. CalConnect develops recommendations for the improvement and extension of standards, develops requirements and use cases for calendaring and scheduling specifications, conducts interoperability testing for calendaring and scheduling implementations, and promotes calendaring and scheduling possibilities.
