Today many devices from all major manufacturers support the mobile industry standards for email, synchronization, push services and device management.

The Synchronica Mobile Gateway provides a unique combination of industry standards to offer Mobile Email and Synchronization products for a wide range of mobile devices covering the mass-market, as well as business use.
Open Mobile Alliance Standards:
The Open Mobile Alliance standards are widely adopted by the mobile phone industry Supported by many handset manufacturers their development has been spear-headed by manufacturers including Nokia and Sony Ericsson
The OMA Standards utilized by Mobile Gateway include:
OMA Client Provisioning (OMA CP) - Providing a standards based device provisioning module helping users to configure their mobile phones quickly and efficiently, increasing customer satisfaction and reducing support center burden.
OMA Data Synchronization (OMA DS) - Providing a standard for synchronization of Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes and Email data between a data store and the build in PIM applications on the mobile device.
OMA DS - Server Alerted Notification - Providing an enhancement to the OMA DS standard by including mechanisms for Push based PIM services between a data store and the built in PIM applications on the mobile device. This standard uses binary SMS to notify the mobile device of new PIM data and to trigger it to initiate a Synchronization session with the server.
OMA Email Notification (OMA EMN) - Providing a mechanism for Push notification for mobile email using binary SMS to trigger the email client to access the mail server when a new email is available for collection.
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Standards:
The IETF is a large, international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. This community has put in place the basic designs for operation of the internet, including the transport of email over the internet, and continue to enhance these through various working groups.
The LEMONADE working group is focussed on enhancements to the existing IETF email standards for bandwidth and storage limited devices, including mobile phones.
The IETF standards and enhancements supported by Mobile Gateway include:
Internet Message Access Protocol Version4 (IMAP4) - The most flexible standard for accessing email over the internet and supported by many ISPs and mobile phones.
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) - The internet standard for sending email over the internet supported by the great majority of ISPs and any mobile phone with an email application.
LEMONADE Extension to the IETF protocols:
IMAP Idle (Push IMAP) - An extension to the IMAP standard providing a mechanism for allowing a mobile device to remain connected to the IMAP mail store to receive Push delivery of messages.
