
Nokia Series 60 Configuration for Mobile Email and PIM Synchronization

Follow these instructions to configure your Nokia Series 60 device to synchronize with the Synchronica Mobile Gateway. The Nokia N90 handset was used in this example. Note that other Series 60 devices may differ slightly.
Series 60 devices support synchronization of email via IMAP and contacts, calendar, and notes via SyncML. This guide shows you how to configure both IMAP and SyncML clients.
Note: you only need to follow these configuration steps once.
IMAP Client Configuration (Email)
Step One - Locate Messaging Icon
Click the Menu button to open the Main Menu. Use the device joystick to select Messaging. Click down on the joystick to select this option.
The Messaging Menu is displayed.

Step Two - Locate My Mail Icon
From the Messaging Menu, scroll down and highlight My Mail and select it by clicking down on the joystick.
Your Mailbox is displayed.

Step Three - Open Email Settings
From the Mailbox, click the left menu button to open the Options Menu.
Scroll down the Options Menu to Email Settings and click down on the joystick. Select Mailbox Settings.

Step Four - Specify Mailbox Settings
The required Mailbox Settings fields are:
Access Point - specify the GPRS option for your operator
Email Address - enter the email address as registered on your IMAP mail server and Mobile Gateway account
Outgoing Mail Server - the address of the Mobile Gateway in standard address format, i.e. www.syncml.biz

Incoming Mail Server - the address of the Mobile Gateway in standard address format, i.e. www.syncml.biz
Mailbox Type - select IMAP4
Security (Ports) - 143 (Default)
Username - enter your username as registered on your IMAP mail server and Mobile Gateway account
Password - your password for the above username

Step Five - Retrieve Email
Select Back by clicking the right menu button to return to your Mailbox.
Click the left menu button to open the Options Menu. Select Retrieve Email using the joystick.
Select New to download only new messages from the server (fast synchronization), or All to download all messages (slow synchronization).

Your handset will now communicate with the Mobile Gateway and download your inbox (this may take a few seconds if you have many messages).
You can now view and reply to your emails with your Series 60 phone.

SyncML Client Configuration (Contacts, Calendar and Notes)
Step One - Locate Connectivity Icon
Click the Menu button to open the Main Menu. Use the device joystick to select Connectivity. Click down on the joystick to select this option.
The Connectivity Menu is displayed.

Step Two - Select Sync Menu
From the Connectivity Menu, use the device joystick to highlight Sync and click down to select.
The Sync Menu is displayed.

Step Three - Create New Sync Profile
From the Sync Menu, press the left menu button to open Options. Highlight New Sync Profile using the joystick and click down to select.
The New Sync Profile page is displayed.

Step Four - Enter Sync Profile Information
Required Sync Profile Information:
Sync Profile Name - enter an identifying name for the profile
Data Bearer - select Web

Access Point - select the data service you want to use to connect to the Mobile Gateway
Host Address - the address of the Mobile Gateway in standard address format, i.e. www.syncml.biz
Port - the default port for accessing the Mobile Gateway is 80

User Name - enter your username as registered on your PIM server and Mobile Gateway account
Password - your password for the above username

Step Five - Specify Data Types to Sync
Use the joystick to move to the top of the New Sync Profile page and select the next page of options on the right.

Only the data types you specify here will be synchronized.
Select Yes or No for each data type.
Click the right menu button to return to the Sync Menu.

Step Six - Begin Synchronizing
From the Sync Menu, click the left menu button and choose Synchronize.

Your Nokia Series 60 device communicates with the Mobile Gateway and downloads data items you have specified.
If you have selected contacts, calendar, and tasks, and there are many items of each type on your account, this process may take up to a minute.

When the synchronization is finished, your Series 60 phone displays a summary of data synchronized during that session.

The contacts, calendar, and tasks folders on your Series 60 phone are now updated.
When you make changes to your personal data, you can synchronize with the Mobile Gateway any time by repeating Step Six - Begin Synchronizing.
