
Guide for Setting Up Your Mobile Gateway Demo Account
The following quick guide will take you through the process of creating your Mobile Gateway account and setting up your mobile phone to receive mobile email and synchronize PIM (calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes) data.
For more detailed help in setting up your account, please refer to the Help links within the Mobile Gateway web site.
Before you setup your account you will need to obtain information about your ISP or business email server and from your ISP or IT administrator. This information may include:
- Username
- Password
- Outlook Web Accesss (OWA) URL for Microsoft Exchange
- Domino Host for IBM Lotus Domino
- IMAP4 or POP3 server for ISP email services
Business Email Services
If using a Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino or Sun Java Communications Suite account, email delivery and PIM (calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes) synchronization services will be available.
ISP Email Services
If using an ISP email account, email delivery will be available. PIM synchronization will not be provided.
Step 1 - Create Your Account
Register here to access the Mobile Gateway free trial.
After the registration, follow the link to the login page of the Mobile Gateway service from your PC web browser.
From the Login page, press Register.

The page Register is displayed.
Server - select your email server type from the list
URL/Host - you may be asked to enter your OWA (Outlook Web Access) URL or email server host information. This can be obtained from your IT Administrator or ISP
URL/Host examples:
OWA URL: https://www.mycompany/exchange
IMAP / POP3 server: mail.myisp.com
User Name - the username that you use to login to your email account
Password - the password that you use to login to your email account
Email Address - your email address
Press Register to create your account.
If the Mobile Gateway is unable to access your email account, the service will inform you with 'Login Failed'. Please first check your details with your ISP or IT administrator. You can also check the Mobile Gateway FAQs for further help.

Step 2 - Setup Your Mobile Phone
The Settings page is displayed.
Country - select your country from the list
Operator - select your network operator from the list
Make - select the manufacturer of your mobile phone from the list
Model - select your mobile phone model from the list
Instructions for Apple iPhone users
Instructions for Windows Mobile users
Instructions for Palm users
Show Phone - if you are uncertain about your mobile phone model, you can also select the image of your mobile phone from the list
My Phone is Not Listed - please check the user manual of your mobile phone to ensure that your mobile phone supports IMAP email and/or SyncML. Then follow the Manual Configuration link
Phone No. - your mobile phone number in the format described
Press Save to store your settings.
Press Send to send the settings to your mobile phone.

A configuration message (SMS) will be sent to your mobile phone to configure your email and synchronization applications.
Follow the instructions to install and configure the settings on your mobile phone and enter the security code provided from the web site when prompted.
Your mobile phone is now configured to send and receive email and synchronize with your PIM information.
Select Done.

Using Mobile Gateway with Apple iPhone
When setting up your mobile phone, please select:
Make - Apple
Model - iPhone
Press Save to store your settings.
Click Manual Configuration and follow the instructions to setup your iPhone to work with email.

Using Mobile Gateway with a Windows Mobile Handset
When setting up your mobile phone, please select:
Make - Synchronica
Model - Pocket PC Windows
Press Save to store your settings.
Select the Downloads Options tab from the top of the page.
Select Windows Mobile.
The Windows Mobile client for synchronization can be downloaded to the phone.
Client Type - select the appropriate client type from the list
Send to Phone - enter your mobile phone number in the format described
Press Send.
The link to download the client to your handset will be sent by SMS. Select the link on your mobile phone and follow the instructions on your mobile phone to download and install the client.
Or
Download to PC - download the client to your PC and install it onto the mobile phone by USB or Bluetooth connection

Using Mobile Gateway with a Palm Handset
When setting up your mobile phone, please select:
Make - Synchronica
Model - Palm
Press Save to store your settings.
Select the Downloads Options tab from the top of the page.
Select Palm OS.
The Palm OS client for synchronization can be downloaded to the phone.
Send to Phone - enter your mobile phone number in the format described
Press Send.
The link to download the client to your handset will be sent by SMS. Select the link on your mobile phone and follow the instructions on your mobile phone to download and install the client.
Or
Download to PC - download the client to your PC and install it onto the mobile phone by USB or Bluetooth connection
